GALLERY — NEW YORK, JUNE 2008 June 2st, 2008 — The Summer Session began at the Shinjinbukan New York Shibu Dōjō. And since most of my young students were leaving for the summer, I decided to end the semester with a "Karate Summer Bash". Kantōshō — Fighting Spirit Award Renshū — Training Session June 27th, 2008 — I reviewed many of the basic techniques and commands that my young students learned during the last few months. A quick refresher before their summer break: tuski kata (hand strike form), quick tsuki, keri (foot strikes), tachikata (stances), as well as other jumping and running games as they counted in Japanese.
Kantōshō — Fighting Spirit Award At the end of class, I had planned a small award ceremony, Dōjō portrait and a small party...
The Kantōshō or "Fighting Spirit Award" is an award that I use to recognized my student's efforts, rather than promoting too fast.
The certificate was printed in both Japanese and English, and with in a Hanko (Japanese Seal):
Dōjō Portrait As you can imagine, the kids were so full of energy. So, it was a big production to keep them still in the right position...
